Joint Degree Profile-Low GMAT, High GPA

by ziggyz07 » Tue Dec 09, 2008 10:03 pm
Hello,

I am currently pursuing a Masters degree in architecture at Washington Univ in St Louis. WUSTL offers a joint MArch/MBA through Olin that I am very interested in. I recently took the GMAT for the first time and received a score of 530 Q35, V28. As an undergrad I maintained a 3.80 GPA and am currently doing very well in my graduate classes. I have very little work experience because I went straight to graduate school from undergrad. What would your advice be on dealing with a joint degree application considering my acceptance into the college (but a different program), a terrible GMAT and a high undergrad/grad GPA?

The only answer on this one is to study and retake the GMAT. Clearly, given your academic history, you are capable of doing better on this test. The score right now is prohibitive low. The latest data I have on Olin is:

Average GMAT score 649
GMAT Range 570-720

Spend some time actively preparing and take the test again. I would strongly recommend a GMAT prep course or tutor, which many of the experts on this site offer.

Best of luck!

Jay
