Profile Evaluation Please!

Hi,

Work Experience:
Currently working at Google - Online Advertising &Sales for the past 1 year
Previous- Ernst&Young -Risk Consulting for 1 year
6 month gap in the middle of the two jobs wherein I did an internship with a private equity firm for 2 months

Education-
Majors in Economics from a Top College in India- First Division

Extra Curricular's-
Various positions of responsibility in school and college
Training - Western classical singer
Short projects with Non for profits in college

GMAT- Not attempted yet- aiming for 720(+)


Please advise me on how I can carve out my resume over the next two/three years in order to make it to a ivy league college in the US. Should I look at a 3-4 year work horizon? Should I stay at google for the next two years ?What sort of co curricular should I focus on/will be appreciated by these B schools?
How can I ensure that the gap in my resume does not create a negative impact on my application?

Over the next two years the most important thing will be the work experience you gather, the achievements you accomplish and the promotions you get. Google is a good company to have on your resume, but you also want to be one of the best in Google. In addition to your work experience, make sure you have at least one good extra activity (sports, hobby, whatever) and at least one community service activity (the more prestigious and the more leadership involved, the better).

That, plus acing your GMAT and TOEFL will the be the most important steps you need to take over the next year.

Hi Suz,

I agree with Jon. You must focus on achievements in or outside work place and strengthen your profile by leading a team. GMAT score of 710+ should be fine, if you are targeting top b-schools. Google is a good company to work in. However, if you get an opportunity to lead a team then you must avail it.
