Hi there,

Is there a difference in acceptance deadline between round 1 and round 2?

For instance, if I apply to Wharton, MIT and Kellogg in Round 1 (let's say Wharton is my first choice), and I get waitlisted by Wharton and accepted by MIT, is there a chance that the acceptance deadline for MIT would be prior to when I find out about Wharton?

And I'm just referring to Round 1 applications, not including early decision / action (such as Columbia or Tuck).

Thanks,

Jon

Dear Jon,

It is highly likely MIT will want an answer from you prior to getting a decision on your waitlist status. Some schools will try to clear candidates on the waitlist during the admissions cycle, but many will not decide on these candidates until June, July or August. So if you do get into this situation, it is best to deposit at the school you have been admitted to and then manage the situation as it develops.

Lisa
