GMAT: 680 (Q: 48, V:35)

X: 81.5 %
XII: 89 %
Undergrad Major: B.E - Electronics and Communication and Engineering
Undergrad College: Anna University, Chennai
GPA: 75% (3.0/4)
Country: India

Overall experience 5 years (60 months) by the time I join.

3 years (36 months) of full time work experience as a Software Engineer in Infosys.

1 year of full time experience so far (2 years by the time I join) managing our family business, an open air restaurant, which provides different services - an exclusive veg/non veg restaurant, a gaming arena for kids, a ice cream/juice shop and 2 party halls making an overall revenue of 3.5 crore a year. My work involves resource allocation of 70+ employees, supervision, inventory management and organizing parties. Apart from that I try to look over the finances and had come with some new ideas/improvisations to boost our revenue.

ECs & Accomplishments:
1. Improved one of the vendor's revenue by 63% in our restaurant.
2. Reduced customer waiting time and pilferage to minimal.
3. Been a member of core member of infosys food committee, cloud9 - an initiative to arrange events/project parties and Powersave - a tool designed to turn off PCs automatically to save power.
4. Got individual excellence award and Unit level appreciation for developing a tool
5. Have quite a number of awards working with Infosys.
6. Event organizer of State level technical symposium.
7. Served as the Cultural secretary in college

Goals:

MBA - Entrepreneurship & Consulting.

Post MBA - Work for 4 to 5 years as management consultant to gain industry experience.

Long term goal - Start my own consulting firm - Primary focus to assist startups and management consulting for SMEs (Small and Medium Enterprises) in India - Food and Beverage, Retail sector.

Target schools:

ISB
Ross
Babson College - Olin
HAAS
McCombs
Marshall

Kellogg, Wharton, Darden were in my list as I was expecting a 720+ in my GMAT score, but unfortunately got a low score :(. This was my third GMAT attempt. All these schools are good for entrepreneurship and consulting that's why I came up with this list. If you have any other schools where I will fit in, kindly suggest.

Three questions.

I feel that my score lies in the lower end of middle 80% gmat range of these schools, so where do I stand and what are my chances with my current score ?

Since I have almost two months time for apps what are the odds in going for a retake, how much should I target ?

How will the adcoms consider the number of GMAT attempts ?
Getting defeated is just a temporary notion, giving it up is what makes it permanent.

Hi,

Mccombs, Olin and Marshall are achievable at your profile and score but for ISB, Ross and Haas you need a better score. Give GMAT another shot as most schools don't care about number of attempts at GMAT. They just consider the best score.

Hi sam2304,

Your GMAT score is slightly on the lower side. Nevertheless, you have a decent chance at schools other than Kellogg and Wharton. You can differentiate to some extent through your entrepreneurial experience in your family business. Your focus should be on this experience in your essays and with a thoughtful presentation you can differentiate yourself. It is true that number of attempts at GMAT is not relevant. Adcoms look at your best score.
