Hello
I wanted to get some feedback about my chances of getting in for part time NYU Langone program
Background:
Education:
Bachelors in Engineering from Top 10 School in India
Graduated top 30% of class GPA 3.1
GMAT: 620
TOEFL: 118 out of 120
Work exp:
Currently run small consulting practice. reached break even and will be profitable next year.
10 years in Technology, consulting and 2 years management consulting (PE and restructuring)
Non Big 4 experience
Direct report to C level management for last 6 years. Good with budgeting and managing
people and client expectations (many C level). Experience includes Asia and Europe from
team management perspective.
References from C level or VP level who have managed me directly and I have contributed generously to profitability
and success.
How do the schools perceive such experience, specifically to broaden from tech/finance to finance and investment.
Entrepreneurial spirit and some business development
Currently accepted to Fordham, Baruch and still waiting to hear from NYU.
Post graduation goals:
Consulting focus on Asia and Latin America finance open to both buy side (PE/VC) sell side (Inv Mgmt).
Want to build a network of professionals to assist in common goals.
Latin America is definitely emerging and i think in 3 years the regulatory and market access issues will be
hammered out or we can learn from others mistakes.
I cannot leave NYC due to family commitments and Columbia might be out of my reach.
Advice sought:
What are my chances of getting in NYU Langone program.
Do Tier 2 school alumnus like Baruch or Fordham have good in roads into top firms and
how many of them go back to their schools to recruit top candidates from their schools
as opposed to fish mediocre candidates for Tier 1 School
If i cant get in should i just redo the application for fall 2011 ?
I definitely dont want to do 2 MBAs one from tier 2 and one more from tier 1 school
5 years down the line.
Thanks
Bob
