Profile evaluation request

Hi consultants! I haven't started looking at schools yet. I just wanted to get an idea of where I stand.

African American male

GPA:
Undergrad: 3.03 (Psychology) from State University of New York school
Grad: 3.17 (Psychology) small private university

GMAT
620, 630

Work experience:
17 months as a social worker
5 months unemployed
5 months as a stock broker
4 months unemployed
Currently a personal banker (since August 2010)

Extracurriculars:
College varsity basketball (captain as a senior)
Volunteered as telephone crisis counselor

Volunteer:
Just joined Big Brothers Big Sisters of NYC

ChangingCourse,

Your numbers (GPA, GMAT) will make top 20+ schools unlikely, and it's not clear from your profile how much leadership you have, an important criteria. Assuming you're about 25-26, you may want to wait a year so you can ramp up your leadership and push that GMAT score into the high 600s. If you're OK with schools outside the top 20 or so, however, there are several good schools where you may have a shot, including Vanderbilt, Georgia, Michigan State, South Carolina, and Case Western.

Thanks Paul.

I should have mentioned that I don't plan on applying until the fall for fall 2012 admission. I also plan on taking some courses to supplement my transcript (calculus, accounting, and economics)
