Hello,

Your highest GMAt score is still below the level sought by the top twenty US schools. There are, however, many schools ranked between 20 and 50that would offer a fine education. You will be competing against many technically trained individuals from India and that will make acceptance more difficult. Your 6 years' work experience will help since many applicants only have a year or two.

You will need outstanding references and essays to stand apart from the other applicants. Be sure to emphasize any factors that would differentiate you from other engineers. Have you had direct management responsibility? Have you had extensive customer contact? Your poetry and your extracurriculars should be in your favor. You may want to use an admissions consultant to help you identify the strongest way to position your story.

Scholarships in business school are less common than in other graduate schools because it is assumed you will make enough money after earning an MBA to comfortably pay back your educational loans. Unless you are a US citizen you will not be eligible for US government assistance.

You need to decide what field you want to work in and then be sure that the schools you select will have the needed courses to prepare you. Also, be sure that you have a couple of "Safety" schools on your list - schools for which your metrics are at the high end of, or even above, their class profiles.

Good luck,
Tani Wolff
