Dear r_p_aruns,

I think you do have time to retake the GMAT, and would encourage you to do so, but it would mean you might be submitting applications in round 2 instead of round 1 at some schools. Round 2 is not a disadvantage, but you don't want to submit later than Round 2. You definitely want to give yourself enough time to prepare so you have the best chance to increase your score, especially on the verbal side. Ideally, you want your GMAT to be close to or above a 700. Because your profile is over-represented in the global MBA applicant pool, you will want to be competitive within that subset (Indian, IT industry experience, engineering degree). Applicants with your profile who are successful to a global top 30 MBA program will generally have a GMAT in the 700s (a few exceptions here and there). Your current list of schools is a good group, but I think they are still a bit of a reach for you with your current GMAT score and profile. Finally, you want to use your essays, recommendations and interviews to your advantage--don't discount their importance or ability to mitigate weaknesses in your profile.

Good luck,
Lisa
