Mba admission

by mercecan1929 » Sat Aug 01, 2009 1:43 am
Hi my profile is shown below and i am international candidate,

Bs. Electrical and Electronics Engineering gpa 2.5
Msc. Financial Engineering gpa 3.7
Gmat 760

As it is seen my undergraduate gpa is very low and I am just wondering if my financial engineering master degree and high Gmat can help to show my ability to for example Stanford,Harvard ,Columbia Mba admission office. As you know financial engineering degree is very hard degree and you should be very good at quantitative techniques and stochastic modeling and as i said can this degree and gmat clear the concerns about my undergraduate gpa?

Thanks

Dear mercecan1929,

Yes, your performance in your master's program as well as your high GMAT score do demonstrate your academic ability. I would not say it completely alleviates the concern on your undergraduate GPA, but it certainly does mitigate the concern to some degree. Whether or not you need to address your undergraduate GPA in an optional essay depends on whether or not you feel it necessary based on the reason(s) for your performance and the length of time since you completed your degree.

Good luck,
Lisa
