I was hoping to get some feedback on my profile. I am targeting the part-time MBA program at either UBC or SFU in Vancouver Canada.
Age: 30 (31 at start of program)
GMAT/Background: Female/White
GMAT: 700 (47Q, 39V, 5 IR, 5.5 AWA)
GPA: This is a bit more confusing. I attended two universities and have one degree. The majority of my credits were done pursuing my BEd (CGPA of 2.87), however I chose to leave that degree unfinished when I realized that I would have burned out of teaching after 5 to 10 years. I took a full time position with my current employer at that point and subsequently transferred my credits toward a Bachelor of General studies and completed my remaining credits (CGPA of 3.85). I plan to report the two GPA's separately and explain the sequence of events in my application.
Work Experience: 9 year full time with another 6 years seasonal full time experience (summer). I've been with the same employer the full tenure of my work experience. I've been formally promoted once (I am not counting being hired on full time from my seasonal position) with another promotion in the works currently, however my responsibilities have evolved far more then my title changes would indicate. The pending promotion would add management responsibilities for our cash management team and I would have two direct reports.
I am currently the Senior Credit Analyst for a manufacturing/wholesaler in the Infrastructure Services industry. My company owns, operates, builds and manages utilities and supplies products for utility infrastructure projects in the US and Canada. I've been in my current position for 3 years, prior to that I worked doing prequalfications of customers for credit and managed an increasingly large portfolio of customers for collections. My key functions/responsibilities currently are as follows:
I have also been a volunteer with a local community theatre group since 2000. I've worked on countless shows in a vast array of positions including stage crew, assistant stage manager, stage manager, costuming, cast, front of house (concession), assistant producer, and public relations. I have scaled back my involved in the last two years since having my son but I remain somewhat active on the administration side of the group.
Hobby wise I sew, knit, and crochet prolifically.
I'm planning on applying for round 1 with SFU and round 2 for UBC as the deadlines for round 1 didn't line up with my GMAT test date.
Any feedback would be appreciated.
