Hi Guys,
Need your inputs regarding my profile/Story and chances of cracking into the top MBA Schools.

Background:

1. Indian, male and 3 years of consulting and analytics experience with a niche but small firm. Strong growth, international work experience (4 months) and good recommendations (from manager and senior leadership of a blue chip client)

2. Co-Founded a web based crowd-sourcing platform; Revenue generating model with decent accomplishments

3. IIT graduate, average GPA (8/10), Inter IIT Captain and 3 month Foreign Internship

4. Planning to apply for 2015 Class. Expected GMAT: 700+.

Questions:

1. Which schools would be willing to take someone like me? I am particularly interested in INSEAD.

2. I am planning to apply for the Jan 2015 batch of INSEAD (Application for which ends on July 25); What are the chances considering the fact that I am yet to appear for the GMAT.

3. Which other Schools should I target? I am more inclined towards a 1yr MBA program, though this is not a constraint.

Thank you.

Hi,

Your profile looks good and well balanced. IIT brand and decent GPA will help. Work ex also looks good and the business venture thing will help differentiate yourself if used well in essays. International exposure both during internship and job will also help.

Targeting INSEAD jan session will be tough. Dont hurry up things. GMAT score will play a critical role and hence take atleast 2 months and prepare well and target a 720 if you can.

Thanks Apphelp team for the reply.

I have a few questions still running in my head

My post MBA goals are to either
1) Get into one of the top Management Consulting firms
2) Become a part of a Venture Capitalist firm and work closely with entrepreneurs and new ideas.

So does my story sounds competent? And will a School like INSEAD be interested with someone having my profile?

Can you suggest other good MBA Schools which provide 1yr programs, other than INSEAD and ISB?

Thanks,

Thanks,
Management consulting is possible straight out of bschools but VC firms seldom take fresh MBA's. MBA's spend 2-3 years in Consulting firms and then easily transition to PE/VC roles.

INSEAD will be interested in your profile. You can also consider Oxford Said, Judge, HEC in addition to INSEAD and ISB.

Hi Tango,

Your profile looks good, but INSEAD sounds ambitious. Your work experience and international exposure are on the lesser side. Could you please detail your responsibilities and achievements at work?
