Hi all.
I gave my GMAT last month. Scored a good 750. V42 Q49.
I am from India.
My academics have been really good throughout.
My Grade 10th was 95% and 12th was 88%.
My Undergrad GPA is 3.9 on 4. I'm an engineering grad in Computer science from a good college.
Presently I am working as a software engineer with a US based company.
I am planning to apply next year and by that time i will have a little more than 2 years of job experience. Also, I've been Hostel Proctor for a year and event manager at a couple of college fests.

Please tell me what chance do I have in the top 10 B-schools in US.
Also please advise what do I have to do if i wish to increase the extra curricular thing on my application, and please tell me about this social service thing that my friends keep on talking on forums.

Thanks.

Wohoa!! Very NIIIIIIICE GMAT score, and bravo on the academics there to. With that you can apply to any school you like. You are starting off at the top of the stack my friend :)

Now, your main task: Differentiate yourself. You have the numbers. Now give us the soul, the person, the passion.

Since you are aiming for top schools then a score above 700 is desirable. So congrats on your gmat score. However GMAT alone won't determine your chances of admission; beyond the academics will also help you in determining your candidature and your work experience plays a vital role as well. In general most of the Indian applicants are from engineering background with a good 4-5 years of work experience. So you would need to differentiate yourself from others. Start thinking what makes you unique and what's that 'hook' that will be key to your application. Make sure you follow the 'show rather than tell' principle so that the admissions committee could really understand your strengths and differentiating factors Although it is not just the work experience that counts but also what you did there like-what were your achievements, what initiative you took, what changes you drove in your workplace etc. So you need to ensure that in 2.5 years of work experience you have demonstrated the skills business schools are looking for. This could still put in a strong set of essays for you.
