MBA in Canada

by agmba » Mon Aug 22, 2011 8:05 pm
Hi All,

I have got a very disappointing GMAT score of 540 (Q 41 V 24 AWA 4.5). But I do not have enough time to prepare and sit for it one more time as I've got a very hectic job. This is my second attempt, I got a 530 last time. I am planning to apply for a few Canadian universities. I've got around 3 years of IT and some amount of managerial experience. I would have around 4 yrs of job ex by the time I join.I have good academics (80% throughout and CGPA of 8.7/10 during my B.Tech) Following are the colleges I am planning to apply. Do I have any chance of getting an admit?

Alberta
Brock
Concordia
McMaster
York(ambitious)

Are there any other decent colleges which I can consider?I am really desperate to get an admit for the Fall 2012 session. Please suggest if there are any others colleges which I can consider.

Hey agmba,
Well your score IS a bit on the low side and your shot will likely be quite long, but it's not really possible to say whether you have a chance or not unless you tell us more: Your age, GMAT, nationality, years of work exp, how many people you lead, GPA, extra-curriculars, other leadership experience, volunteer/community/religious work, etc. etc.

You have a shot at all of them, York might be the toughest of the bunch, but there's always a chance depending on the rest of your application.

Consider Wilfred Laurier University. They are a solid business school with a pretty versatile MBA program. you can take their MBA in Waterloo or in Toronto..

Yeah, your profile is looking good. Just apply with the best applications you can now. To echo quarterpounder, York may be a bit of a stretch, but you should be competitive at the other schools.
