Profile Evaluation: Wharton, MIT

by aj77993 » Thu Dec 17, 2015 3:09 pm
Hi,

I am interested in applying to business school next year (so class of 2017) and would like an evaluation. Here's my profile:

Indian, Male, 25

Education: BA, Mathematics (concentration in Computer Science) and Economics, GPA 3.12

GMAT: 760

Experience (3.5 years as of this post):
1 year at The Hartford in a Technology Leadership Development Program (left early because it was not my speed - I was not passionate about the work)
2 years: Data Scientist at a tech startup focused on advertising technology
current: Director of Operations at same firm (promotion) - company has grown from 7 to 37 people in my time here

Extra-curriculars (I think this is a definite weakness):
Bloomberg Beta VC Program - accepted as a "founding father" as one of the top candidates most likely to start their own company
Recruitment Captain for Interfraternity Council in college (low commitment)
Philanthropy Chair for fraternity in college (low commitment)

Any insight on my chances to Wharton, MIT and other top schools would be great!

I would like to know more about what you do now outside of work. I see activities that you used to do, but currently I see a gap. It is worth thinking through a strategy since you are applying next year, so that when the time comes you are ready.

Assuming you do that (send me an email if you want more specific help: [email protected]), you have a good shot at top 10 schools. Wharton may be a bit of a stretch but worth applying to if you have a good mix.

Best,
Scott
