Low GPA high GMAT

by Unccstar » Tue Nov 24, 2009 9:52 pm
Hello all

I am currently working with caterpillar and have Been with them for four years. I have a masters in mech engg with a low GPA (3.2), but my GMAT score is 780. I would like to apply to the part time MBA at the university of Chicago and would like to know, if I stand a chance and what are possible ways to negate the GPA issue? Thanks for all the help!

Cheers

Dear Unccstar,

Your 780 certainly goes a long way to negating the GPA. Congratulations on that 780! However, I don't really think your 3.2 needs negating. It is right about the average for most business schools and is certainly close enough to the average for most top 10. All in all, you are in a highly competitive position in terms of your GMAT and GPA--especially for a part-time program.

Good luck,
Lisa
