I'd like to wait

I've already started preparing for GMAT and very likely i'll write the test in April. By that time, i'll have around 20 months of work experience under my belt. Earlier i was planning to start with my application routines soon after getting the score, but now i am thinking of waiting for 1 more year or so after writing the test in April, 2009 so that i can get more substantial work exp which i guess will boost my chances further to get into a good school. Now i don't want to quit the studying part as of now as i am comfortable doing this along with my job. So i'd like to know what is the best time to start applying in schools after giving the exam in this scenario? Do the schools consider fresh GMAT score or 1 year old GMAT score holds the same value?

Your GMAT score is good for five years after you take the test. So, you should certainly wait another year if you feel that your application will be substantially stronger at that time.
