Ok So I will start with the thank you! Any advice and thoughts will be greatly appreciated.
First previously in 2008 I took the GRE and this weekend I will be taking the GMAT. My first question is how to evaluate which scores I should want to send to schools? On the GRE I received a 790 on the quant section , a 570 on the verbal (80th percentile) and 4.0 on the verbal section. Due to my practice test experience I am expecting ~720 on the GMAT with roughly an even split for math and verbal. I have found various different rules for schools (some will even accept both at once) But I would like to know which any score will give me the best chance. Any evaluation or advice is most welcome.
The second question I am having trouble answering is due to the fact that some B-schools require three letters of recommendation and some require only two. As such I have three very generous individuals willing to act as my references. However as I am only allowed to use two for some applications. I will have to choose a recommendation to not use for all applications, or some combination there of.
My recommenders
1) My direct manager whom I interact with 8/10 days. He encouraged me to take on more and more responsibility. Shortly before asking for reference I was told by him that I was going to be given some semi important projects to manage. From this and other actions I believe that he respects my potential.
2) Another manager within my group whom I interact with but have never directly reported to. I think this individual probably has the highest opinion of me also this individual has recently started going to a very prestigious MBA program himself.
3) A Professor at my university where I received my M.S. I worked for this individual as a teaching assistant for introductory mathematics courses for undergraduate business majors (This is how I payed for my masters) . This person also has had signficant experience with the university's B-school admissions process. I also know this person on a semi personal level. It has however been several years since I have significantly interacted with this person. I felt this reference would be valuable because I have only been out of academia for around 2 years full time.
To summarize my background. I have a B.S. in engineering from regionally well known engineering school GPA 3.3. a M.S. in engineering from a different regionally well known engineering school GPA 3.67. As of my application due dates (this October) I will have been working for almost 2 years as a financial software developer. I am still a new guy but so far I have project managed around 80 days of minor projects.
Once again thanks for any and all advice.
