Hi Admissions Consultants!
I'm thinking of applying to UCLA Anderson and Haas Berkeley for their Round 3 and 4 deadlines respectively. If it were round 1 or 2 I'd feel more confident of my chances, but applying in each of their last rounds has me unsure of how to proceed.
Here's my profile:
- Graduated with Computer Science degree from MIT with 3.26 GPA
- 760 GMAT, 6.0 AWA
- 7 years work experience in the non-profit sector. In the last 3 years I've worked at the same non-profit and managed a team of interns and volunteers staff as the program director. In those years the program has expanded to serve 3 times as many clients as we were previously serving. The career path I've been on reflects my goals of becoming the executive director of non-profit organization that mitigates poverty in distressed, urban communities. My essays and work experience make for a cohesive and, I believe, compelling vision for why I want to go to b-school and what I hope to do afterward.
So here are my questions:
1. Am I a strong enough candidate to go ahead and apply to Anderson and Haas in the unpredictable last round, or do I wait until next year? Is the difference between the rounds really that great?
2. If I apply, is it at all helpful to submit way before the deadline (i.e., the deadline is April but I could submit within a week)?
3. If I get rejected this year are my re-application chances next year significantly diminished? Other than an extra essay, what would I need to do to impress the adcom?
Thanks in advance,
b
