Hi,

Thanks for your post. You certainly seem to have a strong profile. The fact you attended IIT, but pursued a career in finance will certainly help to distinguish your profile. It appears you have a solid career trajectory to date, which again is a plus when the adcom evaluates your candidacy.

While you certainly can be competitive for admission at the schools on your list, you will want to go the extra mile and be sure to find ways beyond work experience to stand out in the pool. I suggest you spend time researching the programs on your list to see just how you fit with their community. Go beyond their websites and marketing materials and really get to know the schools. By finding ways to articulate your interest in the programs as well as how you can make an impact, you'll be setting yourself up for admissions success.

Best,

Stacey

Hi Stacey,

Thanks a lot for your comments.

I had one basic question. How much are the Social service or similar ingredients required in one's application for the schools that I have listed above.

I know for a fact that these do make the application stronger, but are they factors on which an application can be rejected?

Regards

Hi,

Good question. Applications are generally evaluated in three criteria - academics, work experience and extracurricular activities. While your extracurricular activities need not necessarily consist of community or social service, you should look to mention those which have contributed to your overall leadership and teamwork skills.

Best,

Stacey
