Applicationt o B School

by umeet » Fri Jan 29, 2010 9:31 am
I'm hoping someone can help...

I took the GMAT today and got a lower than expected score of 660 (Q 47 V 35) which places me in the 82nd percentil.

I am a Senior Commercial Manager at a Telecomunnications company in United Kingdom with eight years work experience. I have had many accomplishments in my career, including two director's awards and some major impacts on company profitability.

I am also a qualified accountant (I completed my training at KPMG). I have an Economics Degree and acheived 1st Class Honors. I also have some very strong references.

I lack international experience, and have acknowledged this in my applications. This is the reason why I want to do an MBA (to gain international experience!).

I am planning to apply to the following b schools and wanted to know if there's any I should eliminate given my low GMAT score:

INSEAD
Melbourne
Singapore Management University
Australian School of Management
IMD

Thanks
Umeet

660 is quite a good score and you should be proud of it. Also, the kind of experience that you have, you need to showcase those achievements well in your application work. All the best of your application work. Go ahead.

Experts, please provide some input/ suggestions.

Thank you Prinit for the encouragement.

I had my heart set on INSEAD, however am worried my GMAT score is just not competitive enough, even with a strong academic and professional career to date.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated - e.g. do i mention that I am aware that my GMAT is low in my app?

Well, why do u think that ur score is low....it is a decent score to get through. In my opinion, just keep the marks aside now, and start working on your applications. I know people in INSEAD, who got through with 620...so start building your story right away...showcase it well...all the best..
