Profile evaluation

by tufftrav » Thu Apr 02, 2009 7:15 am
I would greatly appreciate it if you could comment on my profile. I would like to apply to MBA programs in the fall of 2009

Personal profile: White male, 25
GMAT: 600
GPA: 3.7 junior/senior GPA, 3.3 Cum.
Degree BS in Construction Management- University of Nebraska Lincoln

Work experience: 2 years as a Construction Manager for an Engineering firm, and 3 years as a site supervisor for an specialty contractor

Extra curricular: Relay for life, Habitat for Humanity house builds

Career goals: I Would like to get into Business Development and marketing.

My questions are the following:
1) What are my chances at University of Nebraska Omaha, University of Nebraska Lincoln, and Creighton University?
2) Will the number of years of work experience be a problem with the schools I'm looking at?
3) Will my lack of EC involvement harm my application?

Thanks

Hello,

You appear to be competitive for the programs you mention. I do not see any problem with the length of your work experience.

As far as extracurricular activities, it seems like you do have some – I assume that your involvement has not been huge in terms of time spent. How much weight this would carry depends on the application overall – how strong/weak other sections are. If the other areas are strong (e.g., goals and leadership at work), I do not think it would be a negative since you at least show some involvement. You might consider increasing your involvement currently if possible.

Good luck!

Best regards,
