affect of job

Hi
I need advise about my application.
Now I’m working in credit company (founder Oxfam, Great Britain) as a MIS and Data analysis manager. Our portfolio is about 10 million. I intend to apply to the top school and some people say that , working in this company would affect my application negatively and I should change my job and position ( I now risk management ). I’m going to apply for 2010 . . Now I don’t know what to do . Fortunately I have a chance to change my position in company like Pricewaterhouse & coopers and Deloitte. But my job has a lot of pluses ( for personal life) that’s why I don’t , would it worth to change work place or not.
Please ,advise me .

Dear blaster,

It only makes sense to change jobs if you want the new one--does it broaden your skills? would it be a promotion? is it related to your post-MBA career path? If you are doing well in your current job and believe you will progress there in the coming year, I'm not sure it is a good idea to make a switch. Schools are not as concerned with the company's name or industry as they are with your contribution and progression in your company. What matters is the quality of the experience in terms of leadership, teamwork, and progression--if you will have these things in your current company, then I see no reason to make a change unless it is for a job that will give you relevant experience for the future.

thank you for advice.
one more question , is any difference to work as risk manager or mis and data analysis manager? what kind of specialization they prefer? in first case i would be a simple employee, but in second one i'm head of department. from this point of view,how do you think is it worst to change my job? i read a lot of thing about Indian guys in net, and most of them say that it's difficult to go to MBA with IT reputation ,and my current job is partly IT related.

Once again, it is what you do in your job that is important. Since the majority of MBA applicants from India have IT experience, it makes it hard to stand out in the applicant pool. If you have an opportunity to gain some management/leadership experience, that could be beneficial to your application.
