Profile Evaluation.

by MaiBanungaAmbani » Sun Sep 30, 2012 11:04 pm
Following is my profile:

Work Experience
---------------
Working as a Software Engineer at IBM India Software Lab(ISL), Bangalore, India. ISL is a product based division of IBM India.
40 months of work exp.

EDUCATION
--------------
IIT Madras (Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai) (July 2007 - May 2009 )
-> M.Tech. in Computer Science, CGPA 6.65 out of 10

Uttar Pradesh Technical University (July 2003 - May 2007)
-> B.Tech. in Computer Science, 67.5%

Extra Curricular Activities / Achievements:
---------------------
-> Secured 99.3 percentile with All India Rank 122 in GATE 2007
-> Played Badminton representing Sindhu Hostel in the Annual Inter Hostel Event - Schroeter at IIT Madras in September'08.

I wrote GMAT on 24th of Sep'12 and scored 700 (90-percentile), Quant-49, Verbal-35

Queries:
1. Is my GMAT score too less to apply to some good b-schools? Should I appear for GMAT again and aim at a score of about 740-770 before applying to any good b-schools?

2. Do I stand a considerable chance of getting admission in some good schools? Which B-schools do you think are within my reach? Following are some programs which I found interesting:

-> PGPM at ISB

-> 1yr accelerated MBA at Johnson (Cornell University)
https://www.johnson.cornell.edu/Accelerated-MBA.aspx
https://www.johnson.cornell.edu/Accelera ... Facts.aspx
It seems that this program gives importance to Master's degree. Since I hold an M.Tech degree in Comp. Sc. from IIT Madras, I think I will get some edge.

-> Nanyang 12 Month MBA

-> Darden school of Business(Virginia)

What are my chances in getting admissions to the above programs. Can you please suggest some more programs in which I could get admission? I am more inclined towards 1yr MBA programs.

GMAT is neither more nor less so you have kind of cleared the hygiene but it's not a value add. Work experience is around 3 years and in IT hence is on a lower side. ISB, Darden and Cornell will be on the tougher side but Nanyang is within reach.

Need to know more about your leadership experience at work, any teams handled, any situations where in you motivated people, took initiative to keep things running. Any promotions, certifications or awards at work or in extra curriculars or social work? If you provide these details I can help you further.
