Profile Evaluation Needed

by nit123esh » Wed Sep 05, 2012 9:10 am
Hi

I gave the GMAT in June so am starting to think about applying to B-schools next year. Here's my profile:

Male/22/Indian
Undergrad: BSc Computer Science University of Glasgow 2011 1st Class Honours
GMAT: 720 (QA 50 92 percentile, Verbal 37 81 percentile, Writing 5.5)
Work Ex: Total 1 year. Software Developer for a major investment bank in London on their Technology grad programme working with traders and quantitative analysts to write software that prices complex derivatives.
Also done 2 summer internships in IT roles for investment banks.
Hobbies/Extra-Curricular activities: I run 2 hiking groups in London, do muay thai, read, volunteer at the Science Museum. I also help organize networking and corporate awareness events with managers for the new grads and interns in my firm as well as outside corporate events for grads.
Awards: 2 full scholarships during university

Motivation:
I am currently working closely with the front office but I'd like to step outside IT and go into a senior trading or research analyst role because of the greater challenge they offer. I am looking for a top B-School primarily because my university name isn't as great as most people in the front office. So far I've read various books and done self-study on the quantitative side of trading and modelling and on corporate finance, but I think the MBA would help me with learning to manage people, propose new ideas and better handle networking at a senior level. In terms of schools I'd like to go to the US or Europe.

What B-Schools would my profile best fit and what could I do to improve it?
