gmat after mbbs

hello , this id dr.ama man. i am 26 year old & completed my mbbs from an indian university in 2011, since then i am working in a hospital as a doctor. i cleared my graduation with a decent agg. score of 63%, secured gold medal in a subject & now aiming for gmat 2014. what are my chances for admission in top b-school & what is a reasonable gmat score for me.

Hi,

B-school judge you based on holistic approach, they look at your academics, work ex, profile diversity, leadership and team handling skills, extra curricular activities, community involvement etc., so you need to be excellent in all the areas. GMAT is one of the criteria and not the only parameter to decide about your candidature to top b-schools. So I would suggest you to work on building your profile for the next one year along with your GMAT preparation also doing some research on the top b-schools by attending info sessions, connecting with current/previous students. Yes b-schools consider any full time job as your work experience. Your profile is diverse and you can also consider b-schools which specialize in healthcare management, hospital administration. You should target 700+ GMAT score to be on safer side. You can also PM your contact details for in depth discussion.

another doubt in my mind is, what is a decent duration of prepration required if intended aim is 700+

You can take practice GMAT exams to see what score range you are presently around (https://www.mba.com/us/the-gmat-exam/pre ... tware.aspx)

The amount of preparation necessary depends on the candidate. Have you looked at online GMAT preparation materials here on BeatTheGMAT (https://reviews.beatthegmat.com/online-gmat-courses)?

Many of the online courses offer a free trial.

It requires minimum 4 to 5 months preparation for GMAT but you need lot of practice for 700+ Let me know if you have any questions.

Preparation time really depends on the candidate and course. In the U.S., courses last roughly nine weeks but I remember a decade ago (when I taught GMAT instead of offering MBA admissions consulting), I would even teach one-week intensive courses. The best first step is to take practice diagnostic tests to see where your score is.
