Your score, while solid, is still below the averages for the schools to which you are applying. In addition, the Indian applicants you will be competing against are likely to have scores of 700 and above. That does not mean you would not get is, particularly if you can make a good case for your work experience and how that would contribute to the class. Nevertheless, if you are determined to go to school in this country next year you should consider adding a safety school or two - ones for which your current GMAT score is in line.

As for retaking the GMAT, only do so if you have substantive reasons to believe you will do better. Have you identified weaknesses and corrected them? Have you had a breakthrough in a specific area? Most people in the high 600s and above see slight declines when they retake the test. Schools are concerned when they see an applicant take the test multiple times. They believe you are focusing on the wrong aspect of your application. You might try taking another practice test to see whether there have been significant changes in your score. You don't want to just do more of the same. Unless you have changed the way you take the test, your score will probably not be significantly different.

That does not mean you shouldn't apply to your dream schools. Certainly put your best effort forward, possibly asking a seasoned admissions consultant for help. Just recognize that those schools turn down literally thousands of outstanding candidates including many with 750+ GMAT scores. The competition is so fierce that no one is guaranteed admission to a top ten school.
