Profile Evaluation Request

Hi,

My profile:-
1. GMAT 1: 600(Q:49 V:22)
2. GMAT 2: 620(Q:48 V:27)
3. College GPA of 3.6 [ Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering]
4. Stood 2nd in class in my final year of engineering (Got gold medal)
5. Experience:
a) After completing my engineering, I worked as an intern for 4 months in an auditing firm.
b) Presently working with Infosys Technologies Ltd. as a Software Engineer.
I'm working under the department Banking & Capital Markets and serving the client 'Bank of America'
(By the time I will take admission i.e. fall 2012, i will complete 2 years 9 months with Infosys)
So overall, I will have 3+ years of experience.
6. Extra-Curricular Activities:-
a. Was an active member of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) for 4 years during my college life, organized various events for the college students under IEEE banner. I was also the secretary of my college-IEEE branch. [2005-2009]
b. Studied French as an extra language for 8 years during my school life [1996-2003] and later replaced Hindi (national language)with French for my class Xth exams in which I got distinction.
c. Also served Scouts and Guides and got Lt. Governor Award for my services towards the community.
[2001-2003]
d. Now, a member of social group formed by Infosys called 'SOFTEN '

Experts, please guide me in selecting the colleges for my MBA(Finance) (Target Schools looking at the overall profile)

Hi Akshat,

You have a big challenge here. 620 is way too low for an Indian IT male especilly if you are targeting finance.

Firstly most good finance roles are offered by companies which recruit from top schools. Also finance requires a lot of academic potential and number crunching and your low GMAT raises question on that.

So, we would strongly recommend retaking GMAT. In case you can we would suggest keeping some other post MBA profiles ( e.g. technology roles) as a backup option and target non finance schools as well.

I have to echo the other poster's sentiments and strongly suggest you retake the GMAT. With a low 600 score for an Indian applicant you are mostly looking at programs outside of the Top 25.
