Need help in profile evaluation

by kummaisuresh » Thu Oct 03, 2013 8:29 pm
Hi,

I am totally confused after reading some posts in this forum about a second MBA.

My profile in brief- Indian Male- age 33- exp 9+ years. I did my MBA from an Indian Business school 10 years back straight after my graduation.Frankly speaking it did nothing to help my knowledge as I was a fresher without any exp and could not use any of the skills with practical experience. I was working in a Financial services industry in the capacity of a Vice president. I have left my job few months back to set up a food processing unit with a friend of mine with a commitment to just set it up and hand over and move on. My main motive to resign was to prepare for GMAT and get into a B School again. I am keen in doing a one year MBA.

Some of my friends suggested that if i can convince Adcom in the colleges about second MBA i can get in,but with what ever i could see here if my candidature itself is not considered for an interview itself how can i convince them?

With my preparation i could score a 660 in one of the Kaplan mock tests.

My question to the experts here is- Will I be considered for an admission into any top colleges if i am planning to do a second MBA ?

I am taking my GMAT in 3 weeks.

Kindly help.

I have had several Indian candidates with MBAs from either ISB or one of the IIM's gain acceptance to Top 10 MBA schools over the past few years. But unfortunately, there are other negative aspects to your candidacy besides going for a 2nd MBA.

"¢ Age - As a rule of thumb, MBA schools favor younger applicants below 30.
"¢ GMAT - 660 is very low for an Indian applicant.
"¢ Unemployed - MBA schools prefer employed candidates.

None of these rules are absolute but presented together would make acceptance to a top 25 MBA school very difficult.
