UNC Application: List the other MBA programs...........

Dear Stacy,

The UNC Kenan Flagler application asks that applicants, "Please list other MBA Programs / Universities (separated by semicolons) to which you are applying."

How do suggest strategically handling this question?

I am applying to UNC, Duke, UVA, Georgetown, and Harvard.

Dear Consultant2010,

It is an optional question, so it is really your preference on whether or not you want to answer the question. Where else you apply does not really factor into your evaluation as an applicant. UNC is not going to hold you in higher or lower regard based on what other schools you apply to; most schools ask this question on the application for their own informational purposes. It is a way for them to determine who their main competition is, which then helps them when they are designing their own marketing plans for the following year. So, answer it if you like or not; it is really up to you.
