Profile Evaluation

by Manpreet2490 » Sat Mar 22, 2014 11:52 pm
Hi,
Following are some details of my profile:

Age: 24
GMAT Score: 730
Graduation Score: 84% (B.Tech from a "not so awesome" University but was one of the highest scorers)
Present Employment: With Motorola Solutions, Inc. as a Patent Engineer (Assisting US based Team of Attorneys and Inventors in Patent Prosecution and Novelty Searcing)
Extra-Curricular: Debate Prize Winner (University level), Worked with an NGO as a Teaching Volunteer on weekends, Convener of a Students Forum in University
Nationality: Indian
Current Job Experience: Approx. 2 years

Could you provide me any leads as to what all schools I should target, while considering the fact that I would be inclined to schools which offer some financial aid (to someone with my profile), and offer some excellent post-MBA job opportunities.
P.S. I took GMAT in 2012, so I don't want to stall much now.

Hey there dude,

Thanks for dropping by!
Soo, it's a biiiit hard for me to get deep into detail, cause I feel like I'm missing info. But overall things look pretty good. I think schools ranked about 10-30 should be about your target. Anything higher will be tough as you are from an engineering job, and non IIT. But everything else looks great.

If you are aiming for money, then aim a bit lower on this scale, cause the way it works is that the lower-ranked schools are the ones who will likely offer money to entice you away from the higher-ranked schools you would get into! :)

Other than that, the other thing I might think about is if this year is the right time or if you want to wait another. This decision depends a bit on what you are doing at work, where you might progress too over the next 18 months and what your goals are. But a thought...
