Long term aspirations: Working the corporate finance/strategy/business development roles

I am taking the GMAT in November this year and planning for a 2016 admissions. What should be the score I should be looking at. What other factors should I focus on?.

Also , I am being offered a role in the business development wing of the company. Would it help me build a story for the application, if I consider applying next year instead. This role would be completely different from my present role of analytics.
