Hi,

I have five years of experience and most of it is from supply chain. This is my third job( I spent almost 1 year in each of first two jobs and 3 years in the current job). I joined my current firm as a Supply Chain Planner and was promoted into role of Business Analyst for Product line in the beginning of this year. However with the organizational changes taking in my company I will be part of sales team in next year. I plan to apply in fall 2012. I am confused as what I should do. Is it fine moving into another function? Or should I look for a job into another company ? There are very little chances that I will get a managerial role in next two years, but it is very much possible if I change my job. Please advise.

Well, if it is "Very much possible" that you might get a managerial position elsewhere, and anyhow you are ready to move on, it certainly is not a bad idea to look!

Now, moving to sales isn't necessarily a bad thing, as you can still build a career arc that makes sense out of it. It would be good though if you could present this change as an advancement of sorts.
