In terms of building a supplemental transcript, how would an ad com view online courses compared to courses taken in a traditional classroom setting? I am aiming to apply for Fall of 2011, and I have recently taken two classes, one in a "live" classroom, and the other online, and I would like to take one more, but I have heard that ad com's aren't too keen on online courses. Taking a class at a local university will probably run me about $2,000. Doing it online would cost roughly $500. Any thoughts?

You ask a very good question. Building a supplemental transcript is a great way to compensate for a weak undergrad GPA, weak GMAT, or to fill in the gaps or get a refresher on courses such as accounting and statistics. For the most part adcoms do prefer that you enroll in a course at a local university. If that is not possible due to location, timing, or other reasons, it is perfectly acceptable to take an online course. I strongly recommend that you do your research and take courses from a reputable online institution such as Harvard Extension.
