Profile Evaluation - GMAT 750, 10 WE

by btgraj » Tue Sep 11, 2012 11:34 am
Hi,
Can you please help evaluate my profile below?

Age: 31, Nationality: Indian

Academic Credentials:
GMAT Score: 750 (Q50, V41)
UG: B. E. (Computer Science); GPA 8.8/10 (from a top 10 Engineering College in India)
Class 12th: 97%; Class 10th: 90%

Work Experience:
For the past 2.5 yrs, Sr. Account Manager for a Fortune 500 company responsible for the P&L, business development, operations, client relationship management, IT Strategy Consulting and program management. Accountable for 2 accounts (~ $10 million portfolio). Managing a global team of 110 associates, distributed geographically across 5 cities in US and India. Though I work for a leading IT firm, because of the nature of empowerment, it's almost like running a small business (with complete empowerment and accountability on KPIs). One of the youngest Account Managers in the company. Global experience with 8+ years in North America.

Past experience includes:
- large Program Management (IT Transformation initiatives, delivering platform for Customer Excellence, etc.)
- Enterprise Software Architect (architecting, designing and implementing IT solutions to streamlining, simplify and automate business processes (B2C and B2B)

Extra-curriculars (Not much):
- Class leader during UG
- Informal Study clubs for students from non-English medium in schools

MBA & Post-MBA Goals:
Minimize the cost of strategic executive level decisions by going through a formal transformative experience in a top quality MBA program (Entrepreneurship, Strategy, Information Mgmt)
Long-term Post-MBA Goal: To equip with all-round experience for a CxO role 5-10 years post MBA and to ultimately start up an SMB.

Questions for experts:
  • - Based on the profile, is the age a real disadvantage for a FT MBA?
    - In what programs (top 10 US), do I stand a good chance? (Financing not a constraint)
    - I guess EMBA is not an option for me (since my company very rarely sponsors for EMBA and since most of the EMBA programs requires several Fridays off in addition to weekends

You have very very very good grades and a very very very good GMAT. That plus years of North American experience, makes you a great candidate. There's no reason why shouldn't be able to get into a Top 10 program with a very strong application.

Given the large size of your applicant pool, I'd apply to more schools rather than less, to give yourself slightly better chances, but overall I like what I see.
