I did not major in a business related field. I graduated with a B.S. in Biomedical Sciences with a low GPA of 2.51.
After graduating, I retook science classes I had bad grades in (minus a few classes) while taking business related courses.
Grad school I'm applying requires an essay addressing graduate school/professional and career goals with a 200-300 word limit. With the limitation in words should I talk about my low grades in this essay? I do want them to know that I have taken the time to retake courses in science and am serious about get an MBA. The last 5 semesters after graduating I earn 68 credits (13 A's, 4 B's, 1 C). I have no excuses for my low GPA other than I made bad choices at the time but have taken the time to retake this classes. Any advice on how I should approach it?
Any advice? Thanks.
Other info about school that might help in addressing my question:
- Also the school does not mention recommendation letters at all or give options of sending one.
- There is no mention of average GPA or GMAT scores other than
"To be granted full admission, the applicant must have a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited US institution with a grade point average of at least 3.0 on the last 60 hours of credit completed. The applicant must also have submitted GRE or GMAT scores and have satisfied applicable program prerequisites.
An applicant who is not qualified for full admission may be granted conditional admission. Conditional admission will not be granted to an applicant whose GPA is less than 2.5 on the last 60 hours of credit completed."
- I've taken both the GMAT and GRE. GMAT: 700 (V 37, Q 49, AWA 4.5) and GRE: V 480, Q 700, AWA 4.0
Should I do a retake of the GMAT?
- My GPA in my last 60 hours before getting bachelor's is 2.90.
