Essays - Powerpoint Slides

by oustone85 » Fri Sep 18, 2009 8:55 am
Hi Lisa,

The Notre Dame application includes a slide presentation in which the instructions are to "cover any material about yourself that you think would be of value to the Admissions Committee."

Do you think it's a good idea on these slides to basically stick to academic/career acheivements, or should I use this as an opportunity to tell them about myself on a more personal level (hobbies, interests, family life, etc)? There is a maximum of four slides.

Thanks in advance!

Dear oustone85,

I would think they are looking for a way to get to know you on more of a personal level. You can certainly incorporate your career/education achievements if you want them, but I also think they are looking for insight into who you are. Perhaps think about it from the perspective of what you would you tell your classmates about you or how you will add value to the class? This essay provides a great opportunity for you to distinguish yourself from the competition and highlight what makes you unique.

Good luck,
Lisa
