How to calculate my GPA

Hello

I know that the GPA is kind of an important factor in assessing applicants profiles, but I really don't know one standard way to convert my grade from percent to GPA scale. my grade is 75%, In https://www.msinus.com/ they elaborate 2 ways to calculate the GPA, the result of the first one was 3 and the result of the second one was 3.3. I also tried foreigncredits.com and the result was 2.94, what is the correct one?

Shaymaa- thanks for your question- I think it is important to check with each school you are applying to about this. Some schools do not want you to attempt to convert the GPA and they have their own methods or some will give you specific guidance on how to do this. In these cases, it can also be helpful to give a class rank as stating that you were 1/150 is something people in every country can understand! Be careful not to sell yourself too short in this process as the grading scales in different countries can vary widely- many programs do not report foreign GPAs so they may not require you to convert them and you don't want to end up with a 2.6 when that might not reflect your academic performance or ranking within our own cohort.

Schools rarely ask to convert GPA to a scale of 4.0, and ask you to report it as it is. And if they do - and, like I said, it's rare - they mostly prescribe what conversion methodology to adopt.

Unlike GMAT/ GRE, GPA can be very contextual. The same GPA can mean so much different depending on country, college, and specialization (with the same GPA, an applicant may be in top 10% in, say, computer science and in top 25% in, say, mechanical engineering in the same college). Therefore, B-schools look at GPAs in the overall context, for which they've reams of data they've collected from the past applicants and other sources.
