Hi Stacy,

I just took GMAT and got 650

Can you please brief me B School options for me :

Engineer - 3.2 GPA
Good Extra Curricular Activities.

3 Yrs of IT Experience :

Working with India MNC, had Overseas experience of 6 months. Might be able to add few more months to it.

I belong to INDIAN IT Pool.

Few colleges I look for is NUS HKU

Kenan-Flagler (UNC), McCallum (Bentley College), Carroll (Boston College). University of Washington, Boston University, Duke

Can you please help me with other colleges that suits my profile, and also my chances in NUS and HKU.

I have strong reasons to defend that the GMAT scores are not representative of my skill and I can do much better. I will be explaining the same in the essays, but I do now want to re-take as I badly need admit card this year.

Dear Nishit,

Based on your profile, I think you are up against a large hurdle for UNC and Duke, and it will be tough to get into Boston College, Univ of Washington, and Boston University. I think NUS and HKU are reach schools, but worth applying to if they are your top choices. As you noted, it will be important for you to demonstrate your abilities and put together a strong application to be offered a seat over the competition.

Good luck,
Lisa

Hi Lisa,

Thanks for your prompt reply, here are few colleges could you brief my chances :

1.) Kenan-Flagler (UNC) -- Stretch
2.) McCallum (Bentley College) -- Stretch
3.) Carroll (Boston College) -- Stretch
4.) University of Washington -- Stretch
5.) Boston University -- stretch
6.) Duke
7.) ESADE Business School, Spain
8.) Lancaster University Management School, Uk
9.) Manchester Business School, UK
10.) Warwick Business School, UK

NUS and HKU are my last option, are they worth considering?

For past one and half month I have suffered from Jaundice followed by Thyphoid, that killed my stamina. I was doing very well in English until Question 15, even got bold faced question as 11Q. Than i just lost all my energy and had no option but to randomly pick answers.

Doctor adviced me to re-schedule exam but I had no option as I wanted to get into B School this year anyhow.

I am not sure whether B School will buy this reason.

Your advice is highly appreciated!!

I took GMAT Prep just 2 days before exam and got 720 -- but that was in parts i took english after 4 hrs of quant.

Dear Nishit,

The best way to determine how competitive you are for a school is look at how your GMAT, GPA, and work experience measure against the school's class profile. If you are above the average on those things, then you are in a good position. If you are below the average but within the mid 50% range, then you have a shot assuming you present a strong, compelling application. If you are below the mid 50% range, then you are up against a larger hurdle to gain admission.

Best of luck,
Lisa
