Hello,

From the information you've provided I'd consider the top-40 level US programs to be mostly reasonable reaches - e.g., a school such as Smith (Univ. of Maryland) might be a worthy reach school to target, as would Olin. More on-par level programs to investigate would be schools such as Rice, Wisconsin, Cox at SMU, Tippie at Iowa, Smeal at Penn State. I think UBC-Vancouver would be a solid target school, on-par.

While you have the disadvantage of being in the over-represented Indian IT group, it looks like some of your experience has great value and differentiates you, e.g., your work on the governance team. In the intervening year I suggest pursuing such activities as much as possible, as well as leadership and business-interfacing roles as much as possible, to boost your profile.

I think my report on evaluating your profile, your needs, and selecting the best schools would be helpful, and a valuable tool to use now when you can plan ahead and really shape the big picture: Best MBA Programs.

Best regards,
Cindy Tokumitsu
