Your GMAT is going to be low for your applicant pool, but being female will help, as fewer females apply to b-school than males. GMAT in the 80% range (which yours is) should be fine. I like the fact you work for a marquee firm, and your plan to remain in consulting, albeit in a new direction is a story that will resonate with the adcoms as feasible. Your recognition at work will also help you stand out, as will your early promotion. THis is the kind of quality professional track record the adcoms are seeking from applicants. I think your schools list is reasonable. Cornell just received a large bump up in the rankings, so expect there to be more competition there. I would add a couple of safety schools to the list including UNC Kenan Flagler and perhaps Emory Goizueta or Kelly at Indiana, where they don't receive as many international applicants. Let us know if we can help you put your application together. Time is running out quickly for round 2 and you do not want to be applying in round 3 if you can avoid it, particularly if your GMAT is below the average at your target school.

Hi,

Can you please tell me if I have to retake the gmat to improve my chances of getting an admission?

I applied to Tepper,Ross,ISB and McDonough last year..

Got interview call from ISB and then finally dinged.

Waitlsited at McDonough and I am still on waitlist.

Tepper,Ross dinged me without an interview..

Please let me know whether improving my gmat score from 680 will increase my chances?

Also, please note that I wrote gmat throice and I got 680 in my thrid attempt.

First attempt: 600,Second Attempt: 640 and Third Attempt: 680.

If I get a score below 680 in my fourth attempt ,then will this affect adversely? Will this be considered negative by adcom and will this further reduce my chances?

Please help me!!

Thanks!!

They will only consider your highest score, but you need to take a realistic view of the likelihood of improving it. If you feel you gave it your all, you may work to prepare only to receive a similar score. In short, I don't think another marginal improvement on the GMAT would add much. your score trend is upward too which is good, but in the end they should only consider your highest score. I would reach out to McDonough to acknowledge receipt of waitlist notification and to reiterate your interest. If there have been any interesting changes to your profice or achievements since you applied, that would be good too. B-schools tend to favor those who are movers and shakers, so the past six months or so on the job should have presented some interesting developments for true movers and shakers. Communitcate these in your brief letter and hope for the best.
