Academics

by sriram298082 » Tue May 08, 2012 5:20 am
respected sir,
I am pursuing my engineering from IIT, one of the premier engg institutes of India. I have school academic percentages of 93 and 95 in my 10th and 12th grades. But my undergraduate academic CGPA continues to trouble me. I have a current undergraduate cgpa of 8.3/10 from an IIT. I would like to know how much cgpa do foreign bschools in the US expect from applicants. What CGPA would be sufficient to demonstrate academic excellence.

GPA is one of several considerations for the MBA application process along with GMAT/GRE, work experience, community service, etc. There is nothing you can do about the past at this point, so focus on doing everything you can to finish strong. You can focus on performing well on your GMAT and taking supplemental courses to improve the academic story when you are ready for b-school. You can also take a look at the average GPAs from the schools you are interested in (generally posted on the school websites) to get a feel for the GPA range.

I hope that helps.
