Please evalute my profile

Hi Linda,

I'm from Morocco 35 old yr, an MBA aspirant, looking to apply for fall 2010. I will be taking GMAT in two weeks. for my GPA I ranked a top of my class this was in 95 (long time ago :-)) it was in Morocco.

this is my profile:
PhD in applied Math (have published so far more than 10 papers)
spent 5-6 years in France (speak French fluently+Arabic mother language)
Posdoc at Univ of Michigan
currently I hold a faculty position at a big state Univ in the Midwest
I do have some community service contributions; I was a in the board director of a religious non profit organization for 3 years.
I have a clear plan what to do after MBA
I am thinking about applying to Yale since they have a good program in non profit management.
my questions:
1) How do you perceive my chances considering the above profile? Could you please list about 5 schools wherein I stand a healthy chance for admission.
2) I am working on my essays and planing to include my leadership experience in non profit organization, I am wondering if it is appropriate since it is a religious organization how do I need to approach that.
Thanks in advance.

Looking forward to your response.

Hello,

It appears you'd be a relatively older applicant. Moreover it seems that you haven't had business experience - if this is the case, it could cause the adcoms to question whether you are making an informed decision to pursue a business degree. These are two drawbacks I see.

Regardless of other factors, you should consider a program's openness to older applicants as an important factor in creating your list of schools. As you note you also want a program with good non-profit management. Yale is a good start. Some other schools would be Columbia, Haas, Kellogg. However, these programs are highly competitive, and you would do well to research and apply to some in the next tier or two also.

You'd be an unconventional applicant in any event; sometimes a truly compelling application can turn this potential challenge into a benefit by showing unique contributions and perspectives.

Best regards,
