Work experience

by waggrave » Sun May 27, 2012 4:41 am
Hi guys,

I am a 23 years old french boy, and one of my dream is to do an MBA in a top tier B-school at some point in the future.
I am just about to finish my master program in international business in London, and I would like to know what kind of work experience I should get to optimize my chances to get into a top MBA.
I am very interested in Strategy Consulting, however the only companies I have access right now are the small boutique firms in Paris or London. I also have had an offer from one the big 4 in auditing.
From my point of view, it is way harder to get into small boutique strategy consulting firms than to get into auditing in one of the big 4, but I am not so sure that the business school consider that that way, as I think that they are looking for big names on CVs.

Does anyone would have any advices on work experience ?

Thanks

It's not as much about where you do your WE, but how. the impact you make is more important than where you are employed. So, choose a path that affords your challenges, the opportunity to be promoted and to take on leadership responsibilities. Pushing paper at a marquee firm will not impress any top business school.
