Do I have a chance??

by mmayad » Fri Aug 15, 2008 1:52 am
Dear Stacy

I am an egyptian doctor looking to shift careers to healthcare management consulting, graduated from medical school in 2005 with a 78% cummulative average score.

I am also about to complete next Feb, a 2 year postgrad diploma in Healthcare Management from the American University in Cairo. So far at the AUC i have been the top ranked in my class in all the diploma's modules scoring at least 94% in my worst course.

I have recently scored 730 on my first attempt (44V,47Q) on the GMAT (96th percentile).

I am also a freelance columnist for a community magazine and I teach conversational english as part of an economic empowerment program for a local NGO.

I am applying to Stanford, Boston Univ, Vanderbilt and Rotman

Do you think I have a chance at these universities? what are my chances for each? I am worried about my low undergrad GPA at medical school

Dear mmayad,

I have no worries about your candidacy for those schools. In fact, I would be shocked if you don't receive an interview invitation from one of them. It all comes down to how well you put your application together--if you put a strong package together, then you should be starting business school next year.

Best of luck!
Lisa
