Resume Question

by specialk1975 » Tue Jan 29, 2008 11:28 am
I have just a couple of resume related questions..

1) Should I include references, or I should I just say references upon request?

2) Is it appropriate to include a link to a website in a resume? I helped do research for a start-up company who is still in process of funding and the only proof is their webpage and a link to a competition win. Or would all of this fall under references?

- Thanks for any help!

Hi specialk1975,

I would say no to both questions. There is no need to mention references in your MBA resume, your letters of recommendation are your references in this case. I also would not list a website on your resume, especially because there is a place for your company's website on the application itself for most schools.

Proof is the background check after you are accepted.

Good luck!

Thank you Amy. One final question if you don't mind. How far should work experience go back? I went back to school when I was 30, and now 2 years later I am about to graduate, so I have no post bachelors work experience. The only reason I ask is that I am worried that my pizza delivery job when I was 18 will hurt my application, will it? Should I maybe include my last 3 jobs. Thanks again.

Hi Keith,

I think you'll have to use your best judgement on which jobs to include. Most resumes start after college, and you may want to use a non-chronological resume style since your resume will not follow that pattern.

Think about what work experience is relevant to your application and include those jobs. Your pizza delivery job and other "non professional" jobs should not be included.

Good luck!
