I was planning on taking a 30 day GMAT prep class at the local university. Here is the class specifics: Do you think these classes really help? Is $600 dollars worth it? I only need to get a 600 but I have only 28 days to take the test, class, and study. THank for the feedback.

Smart GMAT will help you with all aspects of the test:
• Review of fundamental verbal and math skills
• Quantitative Section: Data Sufficiency and Problem Solving
• Verbal Section: Reading Comprehension, Critical Reasoning, and Sentence Correction
• AWA – Analysis of an Issue and Analysis of an Argument
• Informative lectures with Smart testing strategies

Smart Test Prep is using the official text and software created by Educational Testing Services (ETS), the company that administers the exam.

Hi,

You cannot judge the quality and value addition this particular Prep Class will add to you before you start studying. No offense, but we cannot comment on a product, especially taught products, until you see the results.

If possible, and if it is offered, take some trial classes there. If there is some kind of cancellation that can occur with some nominal charge, you could enrol and take a chance.

However, as for your target score of 600, students generally would not take prep classes. You should take a GMAT PowerPrep (from the official website) and see what type of score you get. Do this without taking any classes. If you score in excess of 560-570, we suggest you work hard on your basics, concentrate on the OGs and take the second PowerPrep once you are done (try and complete the books within 3 weeks, an amount of time lesser than what you would have studied for at the classes). You should see an improvement that matches your score expectations.

There are lots of other factors to consider - how hard workng are you, what kind of an attitude you have, how well do you respond to tests like the GMAT, etc. So we (and we don't think anyone else) can give you a completely accurate picture/suggestion of whether you should spend this $600. We think, and suggest, you give the above option a try.

Hope this helps. All The Best.

Regards,
