Several reasons not to worry and also perhaps not to address it in the optional essay. 1) you went to stanford 2) it was a long time ago, so your professional accomplishments will weigh more heavily on the committee than your GPA and 3) you nailed the GMAT down cold. I would focus on your story in your other essays and not address the GPA.
