Spanish poet Juan RamÃ³n JimÃ©nez, who won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1956, so
embarrassed in his later years by what he considered the excessive sentiment in the
poems in his first two collections, he destroyed every copy he could find.

C. in his later years he was so embarrassed by what he considered as the excessive
sentiment in the poems in his first two collections, destroying .
he is awkard.if we remove the modifier who own the nobel prize and reconstruct the sentence we will see it stands at "Spanish poet Juan RamÃƒÂ³n JimÃƒÂ©nez in his later years he was so embarrassed" . So this is not right. ALso destroying is wrong. wrong in verb form . And as far as I know (pls correct me if i ma wrong) comma-ing form is a adverbial modifier not an adjective modifier as has been used here modifying the phrase "two collections".

So my pick is D

I'd go with D

destroyed is required here . Hence we are left with A B and D

A is wrong coz of the unidiomatic so by

B is wrong coz of and

Hence, IMO D

when u r explaining sth a connector has to be there...here the correct connector is "was"

since , is given so we would start with "was" and not "because"....
So D seems to be correct..

Option D..for the following reasons...
1. the subject of the clause needs the verb , here the verb is linking verb, after the non essential modifying phrase.
2. So +Adjective(embarrassed) ...that ....(subordinate clause)
3. Prepositional phrase modifying the predicate adjective , embarrassed.
4. Consider X Y
