On a list of 19 real numbers, ten numbers are greater than 60, and nine numbers are less than 60. Which of the following statements is true about the median?

1. The median is less than 60.1
2. The median is equal to 60.1
3. The median is greater than 60.1

A. 1
B. 2
C. 3
D. 1 and 2
E. 1 and 3

Hi talaangoshtari,

Mitch has already pointed out that none of the answers is correct, so I won't rehash any of that work here. I am curious about the SOURCE of this question though - the prompt is written in a real 'sloppy' fashion, so I would be suspicious of any source that is passing this off as a realistic GMAT sample.
