3 days to go !! Last minute advices ??

by jrikhraj » Tue Sep 14, 2010 6:35 am
Hi everyone,

I have my GMAT this Saturday in the afternoon. I just finished my second GMAT prep exam and got 730 (Q50, V38). My score in the first GMAT prep exam (gave it last week) was also 730 (Q50, V40). In between, i wrote 4 Manhattan GMAT practice exams and got varied scores: 770 (Q50,V45), 710 (Q49,V38), 740 (Q51,V40) and 750 (Q51, V41).

I realize that there isn't much scope for improvements in Quant. In verbal, on an avg. I get about 9-10 questions wrong distributed across sections as (4 SC, 4 CR, 2 RC). I've practiced questions from OG and verbal review for RC/CR. Anything else that I can do which can help in CR/RC? I don't think my SC performance can change too much now.

Any advice that can help push my score over 750??

Or am I fretting too much??

Thanks
JR

How long does it take you to do a SC question? What did you use to study SC? If you're at about 1 minute for an SC question then you're probably right where you want to be. Otherwise, I'd review that a bit more since SC can be improved the fastest. If you improve SC then you can spend more time on the RC/CR passages. However, your scores are pretty solid so I wouldn't worry too much. Being relaxed and fresh on test day is the most important thing now.

Thanks for replying !!

I'm afraid that my speed in SC is not that good - about 1:24 on an avg. (CR and RC speed is ~ 2:10 and 1:55 per question). Do you think there is enough time to improve speed on SC? I studied from Manhattan SC and practiced questions from OG and verbal review apart from the tests

I haven't been as accurate in CR as I would have liked and that is where I feel I've let myself down! I've been practicing some additional CR questions since yesterday. Do you think I should just practice some more questions for another day and leave it at that?

I don't want to try too many new things now and ruin my score.

Thanks
JR

Sorry that I'm just getting back to you now- I didn't see you message in my mail box. Anyway, now it's time to just take it easy. I wouldn't do very many questions because you might run into some tough one that makes you freak out. I'd just review grammar rules, review previous math questions and the lessons that you learned from previous math studying.
